What you share with us is held in trust. This page explains — in plain language — what we collect, why we collect it, and which choices always remain yours.
The One Love Family Foundation ("the Foundation," "we," "us," or "our") is a non-denominational spiritual organization and a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information when you visit onelovefamilyfoundation.org, contact us, apply to volunteer or serve on our board, make a donation, subscribe to our newsletter, or take part in our circles, programs, and events.
This policy applies to our website and to the Foundation's own activities. It does not apply to the independent practices of the third-party platforms we use — such as our donation processors or form provider — each of which maintains its own privacy notice. Those are listed in Section 7.
By using this website, you acknowledge that you have read this policy. If you do not agree with it, please do not use the site or submit information to us.
Before the details, here is the short version. Everything below is an expansion of these five commitments, not an exception to them.
Most of what we hold, you handed us directly. Depending on how you engage with the Foundation, that may include:
Our volunteer and board applications are hosted on Jotform. Depending on the form, these may collect your name, contact details, location, professional background, skills, availability, areas of interest, and anything else you choose to write in an open field.
Donations are handled by PayPal and Zeffy. Through those platforms we typically receive your name, email address, the amount and date of your gift, whether it is one-time or recurring, and any note or dedication you attach. We do not receive or store your full credit or debit card number, CVV, or bank account number.
Some of what people choose to share with a spiritual organization is deeply personal — grief, health, service history, family circumstances, faith. You are never required to share any of it. When you do, we treat it as described in Section 11, and we ask you not to include sensitive details in an ordinary website message, since email is not a secure channel.
Like nearly every website, ours records certain technical information automatically when you visit. This is used to keep the site working, secure, and useful — not to build a profile of you as an individual.
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. We use them sparingly, in two categories:

We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social media tracking pixels on this website. We do not participate in behavioral advertising networks.
Every major browser lets you see the cookies stored on your device, delete them, and block future ones. Look for "Privacy," "Cookies," or "Site data" in your browser's settings. Blocking cookies is a choice we respect; it will not affect how we treat you.
There is still no industry consensus on how websites should respond to a browser's "Do Not Track" signal. Because we run no advertising trackers, there is nothing on our site for such a signal to switch off. We also honor the Global Privacy Control signal where our platforms support it, and we do not attempt to override or circumvent any privacy setting you have chosen.
↑ Back to topWe use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this site — for example, whether visitors are reading the Spanish pages, or whether people looking for our San Diego healing circles are able to find that page. This helps a small, volunteer-run organization spend its limited effort where it actually helps.
Google Analytics sets its own cookies and receives your IP address, the pages you view, and the technical details listed in Section 4. We view this data only in aggregate. We have not enabled Google Analytics advertising features, audience remarketing, or Google Signals, and we do not use analytics data to target advertising to you.
Google's own handling of this data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
↑ Back to topWe are a small organization and we use trusted outside platforms rather than building our own. Each receives only what it needs to do its job, and each is bound by its own privacy notice. We do not authorize any of them to sell your information or to use it for their own marketing.

We may also disclose information to our accountants, auditors, legal counsel, or insurers where necessary, and to government authorities where the law requires it — for example, in the donor reporting required on our IRS Form 990.

We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you, and we do not use it for any purpose materially different from the one you gave it for without telling you first.
↑ Back to topThe One Love Family Foundation does not sell, rent, trade, lease, or otherwise share your personal information for money or for anything else of value. We do not exchange or co-op our mailing list with other organizations, including other nonprofits. We have not done so in the past twelve months, and we have no intention of doing so.
We also do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for any purpose beyond what is described in this policy.
↑ Back to topA gift is an act of trust, and we treat donor information with particular care.
Certain donation records must be retained for tax and audit purposes even after you ask us to stop contacting you — see Section 16. Federal law also requires tax-exempt organizations to report substantial contributors to the IRS on Schedule B of Form 990; that schedule is not part of the public inspection copy of our return.
One Love Family Foundation is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
↑ Back to topOur healing circles, meditation gatherings, and veterans' programs exist because people are willing to be honest in them. That only works if confidentiality is real, so we hold it as a practice and not merely as a policy.
Our circles are not psychotherapy, medical treatment, or a substitute for professional care, and our facilitators are not acting as licensed clinicians. Because of that, what you share is not protected by therapist–patient or clergy–penitent privilege. There are also rare circumstances in which we may have to act on or disclose something shared with us — where there is a credible risk of serious harm to you or another person, where a child or vulnerable adult may be at risk, or where the law otherwise requires it. We would rather tell you this plainly than let you assume a protection that does not exist.
We contact you for two reasons: because you asked us to, or because you started a conversation we are answering.
Opting out of one channel does not opt you out of the others, and opting out of everything never affects your ability to attend a circle, volunteer, or receive our services.

We are based in California and most of the people we serve are Californians, so we address state law directly.
CalOPPA requires commercial websites that collect personal information from California residents to post a conspicuous privacy policy, to state how the site responds to Do Not Track signals, and to describe how changes to the policy are announced. This page satisfies those requirements: it is linked from the footer of every page of this site, Do Not Track is addressed in Section 5, and our process for changes is described in Section 20. You may review and request changes to the personal information you have given us by writing to the address in Section 21.
The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, applies to businesses operated for the profit or financial benefit of their owners. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the One Love Family Foundation is not a "business" under that law, and its obligations do not apply to us.
We are telling you this rather than implying a legal obligation we do not have. We have nonetheless chosen to extend CCPA-style rights to everyone who contacts us, as set out in Section 13. If our structure or activities ever change such that the law does apply, we will update this policy and honor it in full.
California Civil Code § 1798.83 permits California residents to request information about personal information disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We make no such disclosures, so there is nothing to report — but you are welcome to ask, and we will confirm it in writing.
↑ Back to topThis website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not direct our website content to children, and we do not create profiles of young visitors.
If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, please write to hello@onelovefamilyfoundation.org and we will delete it promptly.
Some of our family and community programs may welcome participants under 18. Where they do, we ask a parent or legal guardian to register the young person, we collect only what the program genuinely requires, and we do not send marketing communications to minors. A parent or guardian may review, correct, or request deletion of their child's information at any time.

No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. Please do not send government identification numbers, financial account numbers, or detailed health information through our website form or by ordinary email. If we ever become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by California law.
